I know it doesn't seem all that spiritual, but I just finished a book called, Getting Things Done, The Art of Stress-Free Productivity, by David Allen. I have had to develop certain habits and basic systems over the years for organizing my life or everything seems to get out of control. For instance, I couldn't function without my calendar and iPhone. The reminders function helps me tremendously. But until I read this book, I never realized how much stuff that stays as a constant underlying anxiety because there are hundreds of unspoken looming ideas, problems, and future expectations that the mind tries to manage subconsiously. The idea of the book is that there are ways to get all those things out of our heads and into a system that takes the pressure off the mind!
When I taught martial arts, one of the goals (as the book mentions as well) is to get to a place where things are second nature and the mind is cleared. That way there is an instinctual response to the opponent. Though life is not in opposition to us, the devil is! When all the hundreds of things that are in our minds to get done are put into an effective organizational system, the result is a peaceful mind that can actually hear God more clearly since his voice is not in competition with the noise of "need".
When God created everything from the sun to the human body, he did it with wisdom and organization. God the Spirit is organized. We we get organized we connect more fully with Him. Just a thought.
Blessings,
Chuck
